Down to bearing
Foundation work begins with setting out the pads, strips or pile caps from the site grid. We excavate to the depth shown on the drawings and clear the base ready for inspection. Blinding, reinforcement and shutters follow, then the concrete is placed and cured.
The open excavation is offered to the engineer for approval of the founding level before anything is cast. Steel, cover and dimensions are checked against the drawings, and any change to the ground is reported before we proceed. Once struck and backfilled, the foundations are handed over with the levels and setting-out data recorded.
